Sleep with monks in a 14th century monastery
Overlooking Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, Phajong Monastery is located 3 hours from the nearest road. Once considered as the richest and most important monastery in the country it has been neglected for the last two decades. Still it remains one of the most sacred places in Bhutan.
If you would like to spend a night here feel free to write to monastery and ask. It is a home to over 80 monks today, guided by Lama Namgay Tenzin, who joined this place when he was only 7 years old.
Expect simplicity, peace, beauty and making friends for life.
