The Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, located on the stunning Amalfi Coast in Italy, is a luxury hotel with a rich history dating back over 800 years. Originally established in the 13th century as a Capuchin monastery, the hotel is uniquely carved into the cliffs 80 meters above the Mediterranean Sea, offering breathtaking views of the coastline.

The building began as a simple church in the 11th century, built into the cave of San Pietro de Toczulo, and over time, it expanded into a full-fledged monastery under the direction of Cardinal Pietro Capuano in 1212. The structure has since gone through various phases, including serving as a peaceful convent, a nautical institute, and finally a hotel. Its transformation into a luxurious retreat has maintained the essential historical elements, such as the cloisters, Baroque church, and vaulted ceilings.

Guests today can still enjoy the monastery’s tranquil atmosphere, complete with a preserved marble altar, Majolica-tiled floors, and other historic interiors. In 2023, the hotel underwent a significant renovation to blend its historic charm with modern luxury. The rooms and suites, originally the monks' quarters, have been updated with chic, minimalist designs that respect the building's heritage while offering contemporary comforts.
