CampingNatureRemote
In 1995 Richard Genovese purchased piece of remote land to follow his dream of creating one of the most unique camping sites in the world. Two years later, he opened 16-room floating lodge, and later added tents to accommodate anyone visiting his beautiful retreat. Sadly, Richard passed away in 2017 battling cancer, but his legacy is carried on by the Wild Team and the KLS Capital Partners.
Today, you can still visit Richard's dream called Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. Yup, we had to check how to pronounce it: "Clack-Watt". According to the Nuu-chach-nulth First nation, who occupied this territory for over 2000 years, this name is the exact sound of the water here. Resort and the First Nation are good friend with one goal: to educate and protect legacy of the area. Today you have a chance to visit and experience this living treasure.
From the moment when you'll arrive here by float plane and jumping on a horse wagon you'll be looked after. 25 intimate tents including dining tents, lounge, games tent and Spa with cedar hot tubs will make you feel at home. Or even better. There is no chance that you'll be bored here - resort offers lots of trips including kayaking, surfing, SUP, rock climbing, tree climbing and even conservation projects. But the real treasure here is the nature - if you're lucky you can see here black bears, cougars, humpback whales, grey whales, orcas, sea lions, seals, bald eagles and falcons. Just remember to get your camera ready.
We've seen tens if not hundreds campsites over the years, but Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is in the strict top. This will be unforgettable holiday. Just remember to book early!
