Haunted
Welcome to the unique Waitomo Caves Hotel, where you're guaranteed to see some things in the dark. Like famous glowworms located in limestone Waitomo Caves right next to the hotel. Thousands of creatures light up underground waterfalls, chambers and unusual limestone formations. This will raise your heartbeat for sure.
The next thing might stop your heart - apparently there are ghosts in the hotel. Including Maori princess that was shot by accident right where the hotel now stands, or young guest who committed suicide in room 14 after seeing her ghost. Staff quarters, also known as Cat Alley, are haunted by a small child who died after boiling water spill, and female hotel employee who has been long gone.
This unusual hotel was built in 1889 and Victorian Wing remains virtually unchanged since the 1930's. And to this day decor perfectly preserves character of this place. Rooms are nothing short of, with king size beds, private bathrooms, minibars and flat-screen TV's. Hotel has a bar and restaurant with menu inspired by MAori culture with glossary on the last page(!)
Adventure seekers will find plenty of outdoor options outside including hiking, sightseeing and black water rafting. There is also a very special treat for bird watchers too - kiwi birds can be spotted nearby.
